Sylvia Daining, Executive Director / President
Sylvia Daining began her work at HIS in 2003 after working for many years at Wedgewood Christian Services. She graduated from Calvin College with a Sociology degree and completed a Masters in Public Administration from Western Michigan University. She is a member of Madison Square Christian Reformed Church. 

Laura VanderMolen, DO, Medical Director

Dr. Laura VanderMolen has been with HIS since September 2001 after returning from medical mission work in Peru. As the only physician on staff, Laura serves as the primary doctor for many of our patients and recruits and provides oversight for the volunteer physicians and nurses at the clinic. Laura was raised in Baltimore Maryland and attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan.  
After receiving her medical degree from Kirkville College of Osteopathic Medicine she completed her residency in Grand Rapids. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. 

Laura and her husband Kirk are the parents of three children and attend Madison Square Christian Reformed Church.

John VanderKolk, DDS, Dental Director

Dr. John VanderKolk served on the HIS dental committee in its early days and took leadership of the newly established dental program in 2006. John's mission includes advocating for dental care in the community and serving the dental needs of HIS patients and others. John was raised in Grand Rapids and graduated from Hope College and the University of Michigan.
He owned a solo practice for seven years before becoming full partner in Partners in Dental Care for eleven years. 

John and his wife Rosa are parents of four children. They are active in church life and committed to missions in West Michigan and Africa. 

Hours: Mon. 8:30am-5 pm and 6-8pm, Tues. thru Thurs. 8:30am-5pm, Fri. 8:30am-1 pm. Closed daily Noon to 1 pm.
